As Springwood Library enters its exciting next phase, Blue Mountains Library Staff welcomed customers to a new temporary home ‘Library in the Loft’ as of March 15th. ‘Library in the Loft’ is conveniently located in Meeting Room 2, upstairs at Blue Mountains Hub in Springwood and will be the acting library until our former Springwood library is not only restored, but expanded into a brand new contemporary design.

Springwood Library closed its doors at the end of February 2021 for a major redesign. The upgrade, funded by the Western Parkland City Liveability Program, will result in a modern, light-filled building, with full glazing to the south façade, excellent views, quiet study areas and a fully accessible lift.

“We know how important libraries are to our community,” Mayor Mark Greenhill said. “That’s why our dedicated Library Staff are offering this interim service while we wait for the wonderful new library at Springwood.”

The council would like to reassure the citizens of Springwood and the rest of the Blue Mountains that the Library In the Loft will still provide the following:

  • Collect reserved items
  • Access WiFi and public computers (45 min limit)
  • Access photocopying, scanning and printing service
  • Return items via return bins in the rear car park.

Even with floods, renovations and a pandemic, we are still finding ways to uplift our community and prove to everyone why we are so resilient and diverse in our projects and community spirit.
